What worked for you? What didn't? What shape and weight is your baby?

This is a thread for us to share what worked and didn't with cloth diapers since there are so many out there and most of us have to buy online.

I have Kushies,w hich are okay, just functional. I have muttaqins that I love! I also just got some diapers from tinytushies.com that I adore! The bulk of my stash were made by my friend.

I was really disapointed by kissaluvs. they're so cute, I really wanted them to work! But they just get completely saturated and I get leaks, especially at night. but I loooove under the nile diapers. they're sooo absorbant.

FITTEDS: I LOVE bee bos fitteds. www.bee-bos.com The medium and the large fit maddox at 17 lbs and 28 inches tall. Kissaluvs are ok for around the house. They aren't the most absorbant but the fit can't be beat. Sugarplum baby has pretty absorbant diapers. They also take forever to dry. www.sugarplumbaby.com COVERS: Bummis Super Whisper Wraps are wonderful. they fit almost any baby well. google or ebay them Smile I also like wool. www.fariepants.com She is wonderful and her soakers are reasonably priced. She will have more of a selection as time goes on and she will even do custom orders. I also love all in ones. My all time favorites are www.darlingdiapers.com I also like her wipes. This is an AIO I could put on my kiddo and run errands in and it would NEVER leak. I got one on ebay that was a second for $5 shipped and it is worth so much more than that. Texas Bluebonnets are nice too. www.txbluebonnetdipes I've had 2 and the fit is wonderful. Fuzzi bunz fit most babies well and don't leak. The best place to buy them is www.cottonbabies because they have free shipping and include an insert (you have to buy it separately other places.) Happy Heiny is another popular brand but they never worked for my kid. We tried new, used, prints, and solids and they all leaked and the fit was horrible!! If he had a bowel movement it was everywhere!! RANDOM DIAPERING STUFF: I also used chinese prefolds (infant size) and proraps covers in the newborn size until maddox could fit in a small. I also still use the prefolds as stuffers in pocket diapers. I may hate HH diapers but I LOVE the Happy Heiny unisex inserts!! I also like microfiber inserts by MOE or in the automotive department in walmart.

FITTEDS: Nighttime pretty much the only fitteds we use at night are kissaluvs. and when put on properly (my mom always puts them too lose tho) they work nicley as long as i change her ASAP in the morning cuddle buns work for us too, we have 2 of them. little lambs also worked for us, but they were a bit bulky. Daytime snug to fit fitteds (i got a bunch from Delphiki) pollywog babies (too thin for nighttime use, but perfect for the day) COVERS: Bummis Super Whisper Wraps!! i have 1, and i love it, but it smells after a few uses if you dont wash it. Wool is great too, we have 2 wool covers a fuzz easy (which i LOVE) and a wool interlock cover from pollywog babies. Fleece covers are great too, i just got my first one, and i like that i can just toss it in the washer, and not have to worry about lanolizing it like i have to with wool. Longies are great too, we have 2 pairs, but only 1 fit right now, the other is WAAY to big, so im saving it. All in ones 3 pollywog babies -these have held up great, ive had them for 6 months so far, they were the first AIOs i got. Diapers Inc (wahm, got it on ebay) this works ok, but it does wick around the legs if i let it go too long. Whinnie the Pooh design one, im not sure the brand of this, but again it wicks if its on her for too long, (im gonna try putting a hemparoo insert in it) and we also just got 2 txbluebonnet ones, i havent tryed them yet, so i hope they work nicley. Pockets we have a bunch of fuzzi bunz i think like 8 now. i loove fuzzi bunz, and they are really easy to use. Inserts 3 hemparoo 3 duckie bunz "girl" inserts 1 microterry and for the rest we use the gerber prefolds. Other i used gerber prefolds and gerber velcro covers for quite a while and it worked, but i dont recomend it to anyone, because we had lots of leaks! now we have 1 chinese prefold size premium, and i like it. i use snappis for my prefolds, (i have a few extra if anyone wants one) we use cloth wipes too. i have a bunch of wahm made ones that all work great. i think thats it, but im probably forgetting something!

Quote:Whinnie the Pooh design one, im not sure the brand of this, but again it wicks if its on her for too long, (im gonna try putting a hemparoo insert in it) The brand is Little Bottoms or Lily Bottoms (the WAHM changed her name).

we used many different kinds of prefolds and none really stood out. BUT For covers I used many kinds until I found Polar Babies. These fleece covers are amazing and are also made by WAHM's. www.diapercovers.com

I LOVE pollywog diapers!!! I use the one size fits all platypus ones. I LOVE them. They never have leaked for me, and I can even use them on Jenna. Kayla's 9 mos and 11 pounds, and Jenna is 2 1/2 and 31 pounds so they will last all through potty training. I've never had a leak, even after leaving the diaper on her for about 10 hours. With almost any other diaper we've used she would've been soaked!! They're an AWESOME value for the life you will get out of them! Here is the site, I LOVE these diapers. http://www.pollywogbabies.com/

i love cuddlebuns one size right now... and big fluffy cpf and a snappi without the cover because were trying to keep it just as diaper back up, we ec Laughing out loud little lambs all in ones are good too... fuzzibunz are great against leaks... i liked kushies diapers but not thier all in ones, the crotch was too narrow and the butt too big and theyre way too high cut for my daughter. thinking of trying some kissaluvs... i like very fitted diapers with snaps, i prefer diapers that can hold 1 pee. cuddlebunz without a liner or cover can hold one big morning pee. when we must have waterproof i love prowraps theyre indestructable.

i forogt to add that my daughter is toddler/xl sized in most diapers except fuzzibuns because they run really big, she barely fits a large... and 27 ish lbs 34ish inches 19 months

The cover should be snug enough that you don't even need pins or a Snappi! Smile -You can also use prefolds folded as discribed above as doublers inside a fitted a diaper, for extra aborbancy. -I also used prefolds to 'stuff' pocket diapers, instead of buying extra inserts. Prefolds: Green Mountain Diapers http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/index.html Covers: I liked plain plastic pants - nothing too fancy. I found them at a second hand shop, not sure the brand. AIOs/Overnights: Texas Bluebonnet diapers (they are pretty damn pricey, but they are AMAZING, easy to wash, and the women who make them are really nice) http://txbluebonnetdipes.wahmart.com/

I'm relatively new to cloth diapering but this is what we are using.. oh, and my son is about 11-12 pounds and kinda long and on the slender side.. *Gerber birdseye prefolds (they are functional but not great) w/ *Proraps diaper covers.. I really like these covers and they are relatively cheap Fitted/AIO.. these are BD friendly and good for when someone else changes baby *Kushies Basic fitted diapers w/ Kushies washable liners (they are fine for daytime but not good for night) *Ecobaby Organics fitted diapers.. I really like these for night *Kushies Ultra AIO.. (again, fine for daytime but not good at night) I bought some things from this site.. they have pretty good prices on their prorap covers http://www.jardinediapers.com/home.php

I haven't started cd'ing yet (I'm due in a week) but I stocked up without spending too much money. I bought 2 dozen Chinese prefolds (for $50 Cdn) and 4 Super Bummi Whisper Wraps (for $48 Cdn). The employee at the store I bought from let me in on a secret; she said that the small SBWWs can fit a newborn as well as the newborn size. So I bought two newborn covers and two small covers. I also bought 4 snappis, which cost me about $10 Cdn. I did buy a couple extra things (disposable and cloth liners made by Kushies) but I don't consider them a necessity. A word of advice; Livejournal has a great community (called "clothdiapering") that gives lots of beginner information if you look through the memories. But it can get depressing if you add it to your friends list, because a lot of the posts are about really expensive custom diapers. Sorry, but I can't afford to put my kid in a velour hand-embroidered cover!

I've also been using Kissaluvs contour diapers w/ proraps covers and I've been really happy with them.. no leaks, even at night Smile

Fuzzibunz are the best, they have never leaked and the microterry inserts are great.

Dri-Line are my absolute fave fitted diaper. They are cheap, absorbant, fit well and wash well. http://www.dri-line.com/buy/product_info.php?products_id=67
