My middle son Aidan (3 y/o) fell off of our counter trying to sneak some nesquik. I took him to the ER because I was pretty sure it was broken. Well sure enough 3 fractures along the bridge of his nose. Poor little guy! Well they weren't worried about a concussion or anything becuase he was acting fine the whole time. Well until the very end. He had fallen asleep, he never wakes up very well, but he was especially grumpy and drowsy and was complaining of a headache right above his left eyebrow. The DR. said that was to be expected but if he started acting drunk, the headache gets worse, or he starts throwing up to immediatly bring him back. I only live 10 mins from the hospital and we only made it to the driveway and I was preparing to get the kids out. He was dozing off and just plain exhausted. I wrote it off to just being a long day, when out of nowhere he threw up all over the car! So we got the other 2 kids back into the car and drove them over to my inlaws who only live a few blocks away and took him straight back to the ER. He threw up once more when we were leaving my inlaws and then was passing out, his eyes were rolling back in his head and he just was having a hard time responding. It was the single most painful thing for me to experience. I was absolutely terrified! We got him straight back into the ER and they're tossing around words like neuro consult and bleeding in the brain. Im terrified and trying so hard not to go to pieces when he ends up throwing up again and almost choking on it. Well they got him some zofran (sp?) to stop the vomiting and then took him to catscan. Well it actually came back clean. His ped. came in and said it was just a bad concussion. It stills worries me but I dont have all these horrible terrible thoughts going through my head anymore. They are keeping him over night for observation. Im sitting in his room now, which is actually really really nice. They just re-did the whole hospital. They have a couch that turns into a bed for someone to stay over and they gave him really cute jammies and socks and he's got t.v. and I have free wifi. They also finally let him eat. He was ravenous. He hadnt eaten since 1130am and it was 1140pm before they finally cleared him to eat and drink. They brought him a full turkey sandwich with the works on it and I got chicken, mixed veggies and scalloped potatos (all really good actually) and he ate the entire sandwich and half of my food. He seems normal now except for his nose being 3x its normal size and bright blue. Sorry for the novel with so many details but I just needed to get it out after such a tramatic day. Thanks for listening guys! It's nice to know I can vent and get advice and well wishes or whatever it is I need from someone other than my husband.

That sounds so awful! I'm glad he's gonna be alright.

Wow, what an ordeal! Sounds like the prognosis is good, thank goodness for that!

Nice to hear the hospital has all those amenities to help you feel at home. Take care of yourself through all this - it sounds super stressful.

Oh man that sounds scary! So glad he's going to be OK, you must be so relieved. Just think, in 10 years you'll be telling him about the time he gave you this huge fright over a swig of Nesquick. LOL!

When I read what had happened I actually gasped. So sorry the little guy went through all that, not to mention you and the rest of your family. Very extatic that he's gonna be alright. Sending happy vibes your way.
