Putting my puppy to sleep :(Today at 4:00 I'm going with my father to put my 17 year old doggy to sleep She's already over 17 years old and she's showing her age, she is about 70-80% blind, she's walking into walls, she can walk but it looks like it's painful for her, she's barely eating and throwing up what she eats and is incontinent. She has a tumor growing on her face that they can't do anything about and it's getting worse and bugging her. I'm going to miss her, so much, she comes and lives with us when they're away, and she's always been my favorite, she's the perfect puppy. How do I explain this to Trey? We're spending the entire day over there. Any help, or advice, or anything would be awesome.

Re: Putting my puppy to sleep :(
Aww man that sucks, no advice but sorry for your loss.
Re: Putting my puppy to sleep :(
I'm sorry.
That's really hard.
I would just sit down with Trey and talk about it as gently as possible. This may seem like a weird comparison to make, but that's what I did with my son when my grandmother died, and he seemed to appreciate the conversation, though he expressed his sadness in different ways later. Just let your boys know that it's okay to feel sad, and that you're there for them. Also, I don't think you necessarily need to be %100 strong for them - it's okay for them to see that you're sad too, you know?

It's done, my baby puppy is gone
Oh god, my heart is hurting right now
Re: Putting my puppy to sleep :(
im so sorry hun, I held my dog when he was dying ( he was 15). Its a very hard thing, they are like part of the family. I have no advice maybe make a collage with the boys to remember her? we had our dog cremated so we have his ashes still.
Re: Putting my puppy to sleep :(
We had to put our dog down last year and I still miss her like crazy. I only had her for a few years but she was so good. I hope you are doing ok.
