In the past women engaged in dialogue with each other in secret, female-only spaces. Our great-great grandmothers used to get together to share stories, help each other with pregnancy, childbirth, and other "female" issues. Women's wisdom and power in the areas of sexuality and reproduction used to be limited to women and dealt with in a more honest and respectful manner as a result. This was changed, first by the sexual taboos of patriarchal religions and now by the commodification of female sexuality. Neither paradigm serves women.
