New Girl-Mom AllyHey everyone! I just joined girl-mom, several friends (including ramonegirl) recommended I join after I found out I was pregnant and needed support. I'm 23 years old, a super senior in college (majoring in environmental & women studies) and I hope (no will!) finish my undergrade this year. Well, as far as I know now, I've been pregnant for five and a half weeks, known for three. That means I'm due May 10th, right around the time of finals during my last semester! Finishing school is my main concern right now. I'm living with my partner of 1 and a half years, so I don't have to worry about making the decision of whether or not to move in and all that jazz. I really want this pregnancy to be a happy one, but as I tell family, friends, and professors, I become increasingly nervous about my own ability and I've lost nearly all confidence I tought I once had. My partner too is trying to be supportive (he's helping financially, but he's not doing enough chores, and emotionally, and communication wise, there's a lot to desire. I can't expect my partner to be superman, but right now I need super support. I guess, I'm just looking for support from like minded sisters. You'll see me venting around the boards here a lot in the next months.

I'm Alison. Im 23 and I have a 3 1/2 year old son, and I am expecting another son at the end of October. Not in school currently. Recently graduate a Social Work program, and am working in the field. Hoping to go back eventually.

Welcome! I'm a 22-year-old mama to a 3.5-year-old girl and another on the way, and full-time soc student.
Have you talked to a health care provider yet re: the pregnancy, or had a dating ultrasound or anything? The reason I ask is that I'm around 6 weeks pregnant, so about as far along as you, and I was given April 30 as a due date. (At my school finals are mid-April though so I'm good to go.) But I just thought it might be something to check into.
Congrats on the pregnancy! It's easy to doubt yourself in the beginning, but for me one of the most amazing parts of pregnancy/birth/breastfeeding/motherhood has been learning to trust myself and my body.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Momnipotent I love your trust in your own body and it's workings, I too hope to gain that! And I have only had a blood draw from a clinic and haven't had any ultrasound. My 12 wk exam is in early-mid october. I think they're going by my last period on Aug 1 for the due date, but who really knows when during Aug I actually be came pregnant. I'll probably know more after the appointment.
