Yeast Infection

My two year old has a yeast infection. No sign of thrush, and I don't have a yeast infection. How do I take care of it for a two year old?

I would give her doctor a quick call. I think you should just be sure to change her as soon as she is wet and to cut down on sugars/starches for you and herself. I don't see any reason why treating her with yogurt would be bad...

Hm. Maybe I should call her doctor. I just wanted a more natural remedy. We're vegan, so we never use yogurt. (All soy yogurt that I've ever seen has sugar in it.) I normally use garlic, but I can't imagine doing that to her. She's out of diapers, so that isn't an issue. She doesn't eat sugar, but we've been staying at my parents and she's been eating more junk food than I normally allow (in the form of potato chips).

was she on antibiotics within

was she on antibiotics within the last 6 months? i heard effects can appear that long afterwards. good luck.

my daughter just got through

my daughter just got through with a yeast infection and she's still in diapers... she's also 2 years old... anyways i called her doctor and asked them what to do and they said that an over the counter antifungal cream will do the trick and if the rash doesn't show improvements up to 48-72 hours after the first application of the cream then to call back and they'll probably give you prescription strength antifungal cream to use... that's what my daughter's doctor's office told me to do and it worked really well... i wish you the best of luck!

You could either use plain

You could either use plain yogurt, or you can put five drops of grapefruit seed extract in a full glass of water, mix well, and rinse her with it three times a day until it clears up.

I think we'll try the

I think we'll try the grapefruit seed extract. Thanks for the response y'all.

I don't know how this works

I don't know how this works with little ones, it may involve some reaserch...however my midwife promotes acidopholus supplements for yeast infections. For adults, she recommonds "putting it up there" at night (it comes in pill form), and letting it melt. Apparently it helps restore bacterial balance.

grapefruit seed extract is a godsend apparently. I work with someome who swears by it for allergy control. My mom tried it, and apparenty it is great for seasonal allergies.

Yeah, GSE can cure just about

Yeah, GSE can cure just about anything. Sinus infections, yeast infections, even strep throat. But if you use it too much it can start to put you out of balance, and if you don't dilute it well enough it can burn you. If it was an infection in an adult I would have said 10 drops in a glass of water.
