March 24th is. . . . .

my 21st birthday! And march 28th is mine and crit's 3 year anniversery! I'm sooo excited! The 28th is a sat so we're going out that night. We got a suite at the casino. My in laws also got us a limo to take us around to the bars and casino. We live in a small twn so we only have 2 good bars, but thats ok since I don't really drink. I've been trying to pump so my inlaws have ebm for Kiara during the night, but its hard. I dont have the endless supply I had in the beginning. I should have started earlier but I didn't know, I've never nursed for this long before. I've only gotten 8 oz so far. I always feel empty, I'm only getting 2-4 oz at a time. But Kiara gets up at 1130, 4, and about 8. They can get away with giving her juice and cereal in the morning but she'll need to nurse/bottle feed in the night. So the 8 oz will hopefully last the first feeding, and I'm going to try and get more between now and tehn, I got formula just in case though. I'll need it anyways because I'm getting my tubes tied April 6th and I'll be in the hospital for over 24 hours. No way will I be able to pump enough to last that whole time. I'm proud though because this will be the first time she's had formula ever!

Anyways, it'll be nice to just get away from the kids and be with all my friends and the hubby! Then we get to sty the night in a really nice hotel and gamble too if we want! Woohoo 21!! I don't drink but i'm excited to be able to use the lottery scratchers. And of course I will be drinking that night. . . . . im in for it! I have a feeling the toliet and i will become good friends! Haha lol!

OH and i was going to ask

OH and i was going to ask how long to I need to pump after? I'm taking the pump to the hotel with us so I can pump in the morning, and probably in early afternoon before we go home. Will that be enough?

milk constantly filters

milk constantly filters itself. Once you are not drunk it is fine to nurse.

Way to go on the

Way to go on the breastfeeding. 2-4 oz in a session is a lot; don't worry about your supply. And happy birthday!

I'm a little late in posting

I'm a little late in posting this, but:

From http://kellymom.com/health/lifestyle/alcohol.html

Current research says that occasional use of alcohol (1-2 drinks) is not harmful to the nursing baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs classifies alcohol (ethanol) as a “Maternal Medication Usually Compatible With Breastfeeding.”
Many experts recommend against drinking more than 1-2 drinks per week.
It is recommended that nursing moms avoid breastfeeding during and for 2-3 hours after drinking (Hale 2002).
There is no need to pump & dump milk after drinking alcohol, other than for mom's comfort -- pumping & dumping does not speed the elimination of alcohol from the milk.
Alcohol does not increase milk production, and has been shown to inhibit let-down and decrease milk production (see below).
If you're away from your baby, try to pump as often as baby usually nurses (this is to maintain milk supply, not because of the alcohol). At the very least, pump or hand express whenever you feel uncomfortably full - this will help you to avoid plugged ducts and mastitis.

From http://www.llli.org/FAQ/alcohol.html

Alcohol passes freely into mother's milk and has been found to peak about 30 to 60 minutes after consumption, 60 to 90 minutes when taken with food. Alcohol also freely passes out of a mother's milk and her system. It takes a 120 pound woman about two to three hours to eliminate from her body the alcohol in one serving of beer or wine...the more alcohol that is consumed, the longer it takes for it to be eliminated. It takes up to 13 hours for a 120 pound woman to eliminate the alcohol from one high-alcohol drink. The effects of alcohol on the breastfeeding baby are directly related to the amount the mother consumes.

I don't drink much so it wnt

I don't drink much so it wnt take much to get me drunk. We are going to stop drinking at about 1 am or so. We have a limo for the night to take us arund and then we're staying at a hotel. I probably will pump in the am because she usually nurses about 2-3 times during the night and i'll probably be pretty full, and then we'll probably go home at about 12-1 pm. So I'll probably pump again around her nap time (11 am) and I should be good because she doesn't normallly nurse again until 4-5 or so.

Yeah, the level of alcohol

Yeah, the level of alcohol in your breastmilk should be equivalent to that of your blood stream. So if you literally drank yourself to death, you would still only have 0.5% alcohol in your breastmilk, hardly enough to harm an older baby. And since you're not planning on doing that, you should be fine to nurse whenever you get home.
Have a good time!

Thanks guys! Ya we're

Thanks guys! Ya we're leaving at about 9 afte the kids are in bed. I'll probably bring the pump, but just so I don't get too full. She still gets up about 2 times during the night so I'll probably pump in the morning when we get up. And then my mom is taking us to brunch there at the casino. Its my favorite place to eat. adn they only have it on sundays! Its amazing!!! They have all these buffets and chefs who make you stff like omlets and waffles and banana fosters as you order and the way youwant it. Its my absolute favorite! And then I'll probably pump again fo her 11 am nap that I'm going to miss (I'll probably save that though) and then we'll probably gamble for a little bit. HOpefully I have good luck and win some money!!
