STI?

So, I haven't been on the boards as much as I would like lately. I have to use my brother's computer if I want to go on and sometimes he doesn't want me to. So sorry :[

Anyways, I'm really worried that I have some sort of infection or STI. I've been having weird discharge that looks pretty much like mucus (TMI, I know) and moderate to mild irritation. However, I don't understand how it's possible that I would have an STI.

I had been with one person before I got pregnant. I lost my virginity at 14, was pregnant at 15 and I broke up with my ex about 4 months after I had gotten pregnant. I hadn't had sex with anyone but him, although I'm pretty sure he had been with a certain amount of people. However, I got tested for pretty much every STI one could think of when I was pregnant. Every test came out negative.

I never really noticed any problem after I had Landon, and I really didn't date for awhile. I had a friend that I dated on and off, but he was a virgin and we never did anything that I could contract an STI from. Maybe when Landon was a few months shy of a year old, I noticed these symptoms. I chalked it up to a yeast infection because I had gotten them before. I took the OTC medication for it, but I had skipped a day. It was the three day one... and I took it the first two days and forgot on the third. So I just did it the night after.

I figured everything was fine until, a month or so later I realized the symptoms didn't go completely away. So what did I do? I figured skiping a day of the medication didn't clear up my yeast infection. I went out and bought a seven day one. I did that for a week and I really thought it went away.

Well, I spent a weekend in Indiana with some friends and ended up having sex with that same guy I mentioned earlier... we used protection and everything. Then he screwed me over and I ended up sleeping with his best friend the following week. Shock I know, but I had been drinking... and yeah.

Well, now I realized that what I thought was a yeast infection hasn't gone away still. I know I'm ignorant for not really checking myself out after I finished the meds. but what can I say?

So... I guess I'm just really worried I have something. And even worse, that if I do, I gave it to those other people.

I just found a gyno. i could go to and I'm trying to make an appointment. I just don't want to have to worry so much until I can go.

Does anyone have any clue as to what is going on with me?

some mucus like discharge is

some mucus like discharge is completely normal. What color is it? If it's clear it's fine. If you have burning, itching or a really bad smell with it then you should get checked out. Call your new obgyn and get a check up anyways, you should get one annually regardless of whether you are sexually active or not.

It's clear. But it never

It's clear. But it never stops. And it kind of uncomfortable, however I wouldn't say it burns or itches. Definately has a normal smell. And yes, I am definately going. I finally got through today. I just have to wait two weeks..

are you still breastfeeding?

are you still breastfeeding? could have you gotten your period yet if you still are? you could be starting to ovulate again, i notice now when i do because i have LOTS more discharge that i don't normally have when i do. ____________________________________________________________________________ mama to Alexa 3/25/04 and Blake 9/18/07 "This land is yours and this land is mine What that means is nobody can own the rights "

I breastfed up until a month

I breastfed up until a month ago. I started getting my period when Landon was about 9-10 months old though. Then I didn't get it again until when I was weaning him. So it's been almost a month and I should be getting it soon. However, I don't know if I'm imagining it, but it seems like this discharge never stops.

discharge is normal, and the

discharge is normal, and the rate and amount can change during and after pregnancy. It is probably just your body changing. If you're uncomfortable, it could be bacterial vaginosis, and they will check for that if you get a pelvic exam.

Hey, don't worry about

Hey, don't worry about anyone judging you about what you do sexually on this board. Being sex positive means that as long as you're ok with what you're doing, and are taking appropriate precautions, so is everyone else. You can do whatever you want, to whoever you want, in whatever way suites your fancy. Hurray for that! The discharge sounds normal to me. Is there a foul smell? Do you itch? If you recently stopped breastfeeding, your hormones mgiht be a bit whacked. If you're just overly wet all the time due to this, it will be uncomfortable for you. You want to keep your labia dry if possible to avoid irritation. Are you wearing cotton underwear? Don't sleep with underwear on. You gotta give yourself some air, for real. Maybe wash your panties in a seperate load or something with a gentle detergent and some vinegar, just to make sure you're not being irritated or having a reaction. I don't know if you can easily see a doctor and what the expense to do so is for you, but I would just recommend a pap smear to rule our HPV which can cause uterine changes and upset the balance of your vagina. Also, using yeast infection products when they aren't needed or douching can upset the balance of things as well. Is it feasible for you to see a doctor before you use a yeast infection cream? Yeast infection doesn't really look mucousy. It usually hurts pretty bad and is cottage cheesy. Get an STI exam annually with your Pap, or semiannually if you feel the need and be safe (it sounds like you are being safe, good on you for that). Good luck!

there is now a kit that you

there is now a kit that you can buy over the counter , i beleive it is like 15 dollars i think it is by monostat, the kit will tell you weather you have anything wrong or if something is wrong, what it is. it is a lot cheaper than going to the doctor and will help so you are not worring, i beleive that you just pee on it like a pregnancy test and it changes a color to tell you if and what is wrong.

hi everyone i'm new to this site

hi i'm new to this site and was just checking out what everyone was getting into with their kids and everything and i saw Elyse's first post and hun i have had the same thing and my doc told me that it was bacterial vaginosis. it causes the symptoms that you have described and is not fatal or deadly or anything like that and can be treated with antibiotics. see there is good bacteria and bad bacteria in your vagina and most of the time the good bacteria keeps the bad bacteria in check but every once in a while the bad bacteria will grow more frequently because of recent increased sexual activity (that is different from your past sexual activity)or even up to a year and a half after pregnancy. this will be one of the things that your ob/gyn will look for whenever he/she does your papsmear and like i said its not a really big deal and can be treated with initial treatment with antibiotics... be sure to let all of us know how it turns out for ya and by the way everyone my name is brandi proud mama as of june 2nd 2007

Thanks for everyone's

Thanks for everyone's repsonses. It has definately made me feel a lot better. And I really don't feel ashamed for what I do/have done sexually, but sometimes I forget that these boards won't judge me like some of the people I know. mamasgirl, thank you so much. I knew what that was but I didn't actually know the symptoms or anything. I'm hoping it is just that. And yeah, I took the test kit thing. It changes colors and two of the colors are very similar and I couldn't tell which one it matched up to! I'll just wait to see the doctor. I have an appointment on the Eighth so I'll definately get back to all of you.

whoaaaa I did NOT mean to

whoaaaa I did NOT mean to post that so many times! hahah, sorry. If someone wants to fix that....
