Fibromyalgia

I have been reacently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Its causinog me all kinds of pain and discomfort, and as far as I can tell, there is not much I can do about it.

Anyone else living with this, and have any tips/suggestions?

I have what appears to be

I have what appears to be fibro. I haven't been dx'd because I refuse to follow my doctor's plan of action and he won't refer me to a rheumatoligist until I do (he wants me to try nortriptyline which is an older anti depressant that is supposed to help with nerve pain. A lot of people who have fibro have had success with it, but I usually react badly to anti depressants and I'm not willing to put myself through that) I've cut out caffeine, food with aspartame and sucralose (Nutrasweet & Splenda), MSGs. I started taking a supplement made from food sources called Recovery about a month ago and I'd say that's cut my pain in half and I rarely experience the "fibro fog" anymore. Swimming at the public pool helps me a lot (cool water, big enough that I don't have to touch anything with any part of my body but my feet..baths and smaller pools are painful). It's pretty much the only time I can move properly and really play with the kids.

I was diagnosed with

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in January. I also deal with chronic widespread pain (my back, neck, and hips are the worst, but my arms and legs ache too), chronic migraines and tension headaches, as well as major issues sleeping, and memory issues (fibro fog). I was on cymbalta for a couple of months and that actually really seemed to be helping with the pain and headaches, but then I found out I was pregnant so I went back on zoloft. I also use flexeril (muscle relaxer) as needed for the pain, and vicodin when it gets really bad and for the migraines. I take ambien to elp me sleep, otherwise I literally get about 2-3 hours of broken sleep a night. One thing Ive found that seems to really help is getting regular chiropractic adjustments. Ive been going once a eek and it really seems to be helping to keep the pain more tolerable. My specialist told me that with fibro 3 things are key.. getting regular exercise, getting a good nights sleep, and not trying to do too much.

I just picked this

I just picked this homeopathic stuff the other day, the brand is HomeoCan I think and it says Fibromyalgia on it. I've been taking it since Tuesday, and it's helped a lot with the fatigue (and my insomnia surprisingly). It's weird, I have a lot more energy, although I mostly can't use it because my legs hurt so much. But since I started taking it, for the first time in at least a month, I haven't woken up crying every morning (or any for that matter). I usually wake up crying because I'm in so much pain that I don't feel like I can move, but I have to, you know? Not any more, and hopefully it stays that way. And when I go to bed, it's doesn't take me an hour or two to settle in to sleep, it's like a light switch I can lay down and be asleep in ten minutes. I've never been like that.

Thanks for all the support,

Thanks for all the support, ladies!! CanadianMama, where did you get the Homeocan? I am pretty dedicated to a Nutrition Store in my area, and the lady there (we have become friends), was unable to suggest anything. I am pretty sure she could order it in for me, if she dosnt have it. I like to stay with the natural/homepathic stuff if I can (I dont like or trust drug companies!!!), so I would really like to give that stuff a try, if possible. Was it pricey?

I got it at the Alive store,

I got it at the Alive store, I don't know if that's something that's only here in BC. I've never seen one in ON. But it's a pretty general health type store. I paid $8 for a small tube of it, I don't know how long that'll last, but I've been taking it for a week and I don't think it's half gone. So at most, $16/month. If your store absolutely can't get it, they should have Arnica, which is one of the ingredients and is supposed to be really good for fibro pain. I would think that the lady at the nutrition store would have known that. The woman at the Alive store I go to actually has fibro, so she's been a big help. She mentioned that fish oils or flax oil are a good thing to take, too.

I don't have fibro but I

I don't have fibro but I have a disease like lupus and have really really bad arthritis from it. I'm like you canadianmama- most days I wake up in soooo much pain. It can take up to 2 hours for my body to function right, and on bad days it never does. Its especially bad being pregnant right now. I know they make creams and stuff from joint pain and it works really well! My godmother sells this stuff and its also in capsules. I can't take it pregnant right now but i've heard from people it works soooo good. I ask her what the website is and get it for you, it might help. If they don't sell it in Canada if you send me money I'll get it for you and send it to you. Or order it to my address and I'll forward it to you if you're interested. I can't do too much right now being pregnant, but usually I take some sort of NSAID, and take baths (well showers right now, its too hard for me to get up and down) and use heating pads. My DH bought me a massage pad with heat and it works wonders!!!! I put it on the bed and sleep like that alot! I'm not sure how differant fibro is from what I have. But I know what its like being in pain constantly. I've actually have been put on antidepressants, because I kept having anxiety attacks and was really depressed. I hate being sick all the time, and it just drags you down, like no other!
