Green stools?

Landon has been having unusual poops for around a day and a half. I changed his diaper and his poop was green, like REALLY green. It was like that for about two diapers, then it seemed to go back to normal for the next few diaper changes. Now, this morning I change his diaper and it's green again. And another diaper was just like that. It smells normal, but it's never looked like this before.

He's soley breastfed and I haven't eaten anything out of the usual in the past week. All normal stuff that I have eaten since he was born... I read that he could be getting too much foremilk or that he could be sick.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice? He has a dr appt. on monday... should I wait till then or should I call the dr now?

I've never heard of getting too much foremilk...Before Shane started eating solids his poop was pretty watery and was changing color quite often. Sometimes it was dark and sometimes it was pretty light. Green or brown, sometimes yellow. Ew! I don't think it's anything to worry about but only you know your baby best and if he's having any other symptoms like fever or not eating, then I might call doc right away. Otherwise I'd just bring it up at your visit Monday.

Yes, it could be an issue of getting too much foremilk; still, if it's only been for a couple of diapers, I wouldn't worry about it. Another thing: is he gassy? Are you letting him decide when to switch sides (or are you timing each side)? How frequently is he eating?

He's not really that gassy. He used to have gas a couple weeks ago really bad, but only a little evey once in a while now. I usually, most of the time, let him decide when to switch sides. And lately he's been eating preety frequently, about every 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

From what you say, it really doesn't sound like a hindmilk/foremilk imbalance, but I'm no expert. If you have a doctor's appointment, you could bring it up then, or if you want, you could call a La Leche League leader, who would know way more about this stuff than me. Still, if it's only a couple of times, I wouldn't worry.
