So my MIL said it looked like DD#2 had thrush on her tongue and to watch it. I asked my midwife this morning and she was like well we will just wait and see if anything happens and if so I'll prescribe something. Now I am aware of the signs - white tongue (not milk) and red bum and for me sore nipples. What I am wanting to know is if it does develop into thrush what can I do? I don't want to have to leave it till the midwife comes back even though she said just ring her if I need anything etc. My MIL said to wipe baby's tongue before a feed and my nipple also to aide in preventing it.

j hadit alot the doc gave me nystantin to hjelp with it....always wipe babes mouth out after feeding her that will help to prevent it...but ask for nystntan because thrush can get kinda nasty
DS had it once and they used gentian violet.. It turned his mouth purple for a couple days which looked kinda funky, but it worked and it never came back.. I believe you can use it on your nipples too!
Heres the thread from when Te had it.. w/ a pic of the purpleness a few posts down..

But the stuff really works!!
Thanks for that. How do you know if you havea thrush on your nipples like do they just hurt or is there some sort of visible sign?
