I've seen a lot of ads lately stating that their kit will give you a greater chance of having the sex you want. I don't believe it but I know that there are tecniques you can do to increase your chances of having the boy or girl you want. My mom has a friend who said she found a website that talks about diets for the men, positions and timing. And I've heard of scientific studies done proving the diets and timing. She had 5 girls and then tried it and had a girl. I don't know if it was just a coincidence or what but im intrequed! I have 2 boys and in like 18 months we want to try for another baby. I'll be happy if it's a boy or girl but I really want a girl!
So I'm jsut curious if any of you mamas have heard about this and what have you heard?

I've heard of one method that apparantly works.
It says that the sperm that hold the boy chromosome swim quickly and also die quickly. So if you want to have a boy, you have sex on the day you are ovulate or shortly after. The sperm that hold the girl chromosome are slower but also live longer, so if you want to have a girl you have sex a couple of days before ovulation. This topic came up in one of my classes and the professor who has a degree in biology said that it makes sense scientifically, because the X (girl) chromosome is significantly larger than the Y (boy) chromosome so it would make sence that the girl one would be slowed down by its size.
Who knows if its real though, but I'm going to do it when I start trying for baby #2 because I want to have a girl really bad.

ya ditto i really want a girl too.i've heard that before. on the discovery health channel so i know that must be true. but i wonder if there is other things to boost your chances. boys run strongly on my hubby's side of the family but i want a girl sooooooo bad!!!!!

I know I really want a girl too but unfortunately there's nothing you can do to guarantee that you will have one sex or the other. When I try to conceive, I will probably use that method and then do whatever myths and old wives tales even if they probably dont do anything (like eating lots of dairy makes girl babies). haha. But hey, if its not going to do any harm, you might as well try!

i would love another girl when i conceive again there is a board on babycenter called determining sex and they have several methods for swaying for a girl or boy for a girl they say to douche with lime before and after sex and from what ive heard that really helps produce a girl the theory is that the girl sperm is stronger than boy and can withstand the lime alot better than male sperm here is the link to the board:

I just want to sway my chances of having a girl. and naturally too. no stupid kits. just supplements, timing, and all that. i would be happy with another boy because my boys are my world. but critter only wants 3 kids so this is my last chance at having a girl

That sounds really dangerous. Lime is probably one of the worst things that you could put inside your vagina. It can irritate your skin, dry you out, make sex really painful, increase your chances of getting an infection or STI. yeck..

There are companies you can use if you have the money and really want a better guarantee. I read about basically a filtering technique where male and female sperm are filtered and you can 'insert' the sperm with the bigger concentration of female sperm or whatever.
Actually I'd think about trying it if I were to ever have another kid. Almost everyone in my family has wanted a girl, tried for a girl, and given up after 3 boys because they didn't want 4 children. Now that I have one boy and another boy on the way if there were something I could do (and afford) to help better the chances that the third would be a girl, I'd probably go for it.

haha ya boys run strongly on my hubby's side. one cousin had 6 boys before she gave up!!!! I heard take supplements such as magnesium, calcium and cranberry help for a girl. also cutting caffine out of your diet and cutting your salt down. you do the opposite for boys. also the closer you are to ovulating increases your chances for a boy. farther away a girl.
I've heard of the companies where you can buy the stuff but i doubt critter would want me to waste my money on that especially because its not guarenteed.
I really want another baby. aidan is 9 months old and i have an iud but i can get it taken out. we have the income to be able to afford another child. critter wants to wait longer but i don't, at all. dunno why but i just feel like i should have another baby, boy or girl (even tho i really want a girl). i get a lot of crap from my family about being "too young" and not ready for it. but i don't think i would want it this badly if i wasn't.
i was talking to critter about it last night and he said to start taking the supplements and then in 3 months when aidan turns one to get my iud taken out. but i don't know how long it takes for my fertility to return. its just a copper one. its sooo tempting. and i think im going to but im afraid of all the snide comments from family about it.
am i totally crazy for wanting another baby soo badly???????????

I think that if you know youre susceptible to yeast infections it would be a bad idea but for those who are desperate i guess its an option ive tried it and didnt suffer any of the above symptoms i think everyone would be different i guess it should say try at your own risk! lol there are many other suggestions on the thread i gave that dont include lime

In my Sexstacy book there is a part about conceiving.... it's Kama Sutra based.... and it says that if a girl is desired the woman should orgasm before he ejaculates..... because it alters her pH to be more favourable for a girl. And if a boy is desired the man should bring her to orgasm after he ejaculated....
An old wives tale, more or less, but makes for interesting conversation when you probe into other people's sex lives, LOL!

Honestly, I really don't think there is much of a difference between male and female babies. If I had another baby, I wouldn't really care what was between its sex is because I would treat it the same regardless of what is between its legs.

Idk if I believe ANYTHING, regardless of accurate "they" say it is in order to increase your chances of conceiving a certain sex of a baby. I got pregnant the day I ovulated, according to my doctor, and my mentrual calendar with this pregnancy, and with my last, I got pregnant exactly one week after my period finished, so I ovulated early obviously. One thing that IS correct for my kids though is that Chinese Chart that determines the baby's sex by the mother's age, and month of conception, lol, but I know it's only coincidence, because it's wrong for me, and my mom when she conceived me.

It may not matter to you but why put down people who want one of both? Yes it matters to me, I would love a little girl, and no I wouldn't raise my children the same because each one needs a different approach to undo what society says, boys need to be taught to be less domineering and more sensitive and more respectful to women, girls need to be taught to be strong and proud and sure of themselves.
And I don't feel bad for wanting a girl some day, nor do I think I should have to.

i agree with naivete i do really want a daughter if i get pregnant again and i respect other peoples views on gender and such but i personally will raise my daughters and sons somewhat different, and if i never have another daughter again i will not be mad but deal with it and move on. i love them all no matter what sex they are but would love that connection me and my mom have that my brother and her dont have just like my brother has a connection with my dad that i dont have. one thing i look forward to if i ever parent a daughter is watching her grow into a woman and helping her with her children.

a lot of people don't care what they have but a lot do. i love my children regardless of sex. i want a girl really bad but its not like if i had a son i'd be mad and treat him differant because he wasn't a girl.

ian and aidans mom- no i dont think its out of the ordinary to want another child so soon. i was ready for another soon after the birth of all my children! i dont know why but i just want to get pregnant again right now i havent gotten pregnant yet and really dont need to i need to finish school first but if it happened we would be happy. my friend after her first was born the day they came home for the hospital she was like im ready for another one! lol and she got pregnant eight weeks later so i think its up to you and you know what your body and mind can handle. i say go for it or see what happens.

first off sorry guys didn't mean to use that word just slipped!
ok now well. im going to school right now but nothing i can't handle. now is ok. critter's dad owns his own business so he works for him and makes pretty good money. i stay home but nanny for some friends who work alot! so we've decieded that we are going to try for another baby but im gunna start on the supplements first and then in like a month or two get my iud taken out! haha !!!!!!!! im excited! so maybe i be preggo in like 3 or 4 months! keep your fingers crossed

Well I'm sorry if you found that offensive, I wasn't meaning it to be in any way. Just stating my opinion. And you're right, you wouldn't raise them the same. But I would still treat them the same, as in I wouldn't like one better because of their sex. And I'm not saying that anyone on here would, I'm just saying what I would do. Also, thats great that you want to have a girl and I didn't see where someone said for you to feel bad about that.

i agree. you can want a certain sex and when you don't get it love that child just the same as if it had been the sex you wanted. Its your child you love it regardless if it a boy or girl. i have two boys. i don't think its wrong to want to try parenting a girl. but if i have another boy i won't be upset

Haha just reading back on this old post that I did. ANd its funny because I got my IUD out when Aidan was one. I miscarried but got pregnant right away. And now we're having our girl! I don't know if it really works or not but I took those supplements and tracked my period and had sex the week before I was to ovulate but then 2 days before and 3 days after we didn't have sex. I'm getting my girl!!!!! It's my last one becuase of my lupus. I just physically can't handle another pregnancy. SO I'm especially glad she's a girl! And I only have a few more weeks until she's here! I'm already 35 1/2 wks. I just wanted to update since I was talking about that and got my girl.

Yeah! I did try the method
Yeah! I did try the method of having sex before ovulation to have a girl this time around because I really want a girl. I ended up ovulating like 3 weeks later in my cycle than usual though so who knows. I have a feeling its a boy even though I really really want a girl 
My ultrasound is the 3rd of July so I'll find out then...I'm finding out this time which I didnt before but this time I feel like I need to know alot more (probably because if its a girl I know I am done having kids for good).
