Are there any wheel chair using mamas? / Resticted mobility?hey! I was wondering if any one here uses a wheel chair? I use one, http://www.mobilitymegastore.co.uk/item1335.htm not constantly but mainley when im out. I use Crutches alot of the time if im not in my chair. I was wondering how you coped with being preggers and the differnt stages of your child growing up. I think Ive pretty much desided that I'd use a hugabub type carrior as that leaves me hands free for sticks or wheels. You may be able to get prams that clip on to your chair but if they are like clip on shopping carts, fucking forget it! They are imposible to use! and i wouldnt be abel to see the baby. Do you have any mobility aids that you can recomend? thanks B xxx

Re: Are there any wheel chair using mamas? / Resticted mobility?
I know this post is old, but I wanted to check in and say I'm here if people have questions and/or tips!
I've been in a wheelchair (100%) since 2005 and used other mobility devices prior to that. I'm currently fighting my insurance for a new chair (its been a year long fight - both mine are broken). when I found out I was pregnant, I had my seating positioning changed for the chair I'm trying to get. the front will be 4" higher then the back so I'm leaning back more - its easier to roll and will be easier with a baby on my lap.
I also connected with my local babywearers group. I plan to wear the baby (slings/wraps/mei tai) since it will be easier for me to be hands-free for wheeling and to help since I'm low-tone.
I've also found a few good books explaining disability to a child... I'll post titles later.
