Abbreviations

OK so I wasn't overly too sure where to post this. While reading this site I have come across many abbreviations and such and while I knew quite a lot of them there was still some I didn't know so I created a little list. If anyone has any more please feel free to add or if you can help with the ones I don't know it would be awesome.

BC = Birth COntrol
TTC = Trying To Conceive
LMP = Last Menstruall Period
HPT = Home Pregnancy Test
EDD = Estimated Due Date
BD = Baby Daddy
UTI = Urinary Tract Infection
LMC = Lead Maternity Caregiver
OB = Obstetrician
GYN = Gynecologist
SAHM = Stay At Home Mom
LLL = La Leche League
BF = Breast Feeding
EBM = Expressed Breast Milk
NICU = Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
PPD = Post Partum Depression
Y/O = Year Old
w/ = With
IKO = I know Of
IMO = In My Opinion
PM = Private Message
WIC = Women Infant Children

PPP = ?
SO = ?
PG = ?[/b]

hey, this is a really good thread. a lot of people don't know this stuff when they first join and are too embarassed to ask. Once a final list is made up, I think we should sticky it in the introduction area.

Hmm... OP = original poster and not so commonly used, but may be helpful ED = eating disorder PCOS = polycystic ovary syndrome BM = bowel movement

Somemore I have come across plus the ones from the other thread. B/C = Because FYI = For Your Information US = Ultrasound DH = Dear Husband DS = Dear Son DD = Dear Daughter KWIM = Know What I Mean CIO = Cry It Out PITA = Pain In The Ass IMHO = In My Honest Opinion

This is the funniest thread ever. I know I use the acronyms but *IRL* I totaly make fun of themself (and me, by proxy). I have google chats with my friend Mario where all we do is post the silliest acronyms (spelled wrong) that we can think of. My fave thing ever is when you see people do this: OMFGLMFAO!!!!!!11111111eleven I have no idea why that is funny to me. heh.

There's actually been times when I've used acronyms in real life conversations. I've let a few "ROFL"'s slip in real life, and actually referred to my BIL (brother in law) once as BIL instead of his name. I think the biggest thing is I often use my son's initial as an abbrev. I forced myself to start calling him T in online forums, and it became second nature, and now I call him just T in real life. It rubbed off and now my SO and father call him T too. ROFL = rolling on the floor laughing LJ = www.livejournal.com

I have called baby daddy "bd" before when he was there, he was like huh? I have said wtf, stfu, and ttyl before. Once i texted lol to my dad though and he thought it was a word in spanish! hahaha

I don't know what the PPP is meant to signify, but I've seen it used to represent Post-partum psychosis. And PPD is Post-partum depression.

can anyone tell me what dl/tl means? It has been puzzling me for a long time and I'm a bit embarressed to say anything about it. I have a friend who's a grad student and teaches comp 101 at the college he's going to. He told me that he has had students turn in papers with computer acronyms IN the paper ... for a COLLEGE essey!!
